Kin Market Coffee Cart

Dignified access to food & building community.

About the Kin Experience

As a social venture, Kin has a dual mission of community building and food access. By using pay-what-you-want (PWYW) principles, we envision a place where everyone has access to high-quality food and drink at a price that they can afford. Community is at the heart of everything we do; everyone is welcome.

Why It Matters

We use an inclusive model that removes barriers for our customers to access quality food and drinks. Each individual’s choice and preference is an important part of what we do. You can donate to support the work we are doing to increase food access in our city.

Why It Matters

Our Pay-What-You-Want Model

Pay-what-you-want (PWYW) is all about empowering individuals to give what they can. Whether you are a millionaire or have a quarter in your pocket, this model gives you a tangible way to engage with the issues of food insecurity and food access. We believe that everyone should have access to healthy food. This alternative model is built on trust, generosity and community.

Coffee Cart

The coffee cart was launched in partnership with Shawnessy YMCA in Calgary and sells ethically-sourced coffee beverages and healthy snacks. Our pay-what-you-want model ensures that everyone, regardless of ability to pay, is welcome and able to access quality food & drinks and enjoy the community gathering space.

Everyone should have access to healthy food at a price that they can afford. Kin Market is stocked with high quality food, including locally-sourced food when possible. Whether you need to stock up on fresh produce, dairy, or meats, you’ll be able to find what you need.

Kin Coffee Cart is looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help serve coffee at the Shawnessy YMCA in Calgary.

YYC Food Security Fund

Kin Coffee Cart and Kin Market were made possible thanks to the YYCFSF, who was heavily involved in the development of this concept and the realization of the project. We are incredibly grateful for our long-term partnership with the YYC Food Security Fund.
